Quality optics can be a massive asset to your hunting strategy. Whether it’s a quality sight or a good pair of binoculars, they can make a major difference during your hunting trip. Keep in mind that you don’t have to break the bank to use optics. Find an affordable pair that will function as well as you need it to for your hunting habits.

Binoculars vs Spotting Scope

For a smaller, closer field of vision you can use a standard pair of binoculars. This will allow you to scope out the deer in an open field or clearing. If you’re looking to spot deer at a farther distance, you’ll want a spotting scope. These will allow you to focus on deer that might be too far away for binoculars. When you’re hunting from your Stump blind on the ground, binoculars will likely do the trick. The binoculars will help you spot any slight movement or a blur of antlers between the trees from the ground level. If you’re elevating your Stump blind, you might be able to use a spotting scope since you’ll have a wider field of vision. You’ll be able to see deer coming toward you from off in the distance. There is plenty of room in a Stump blind, so you’ll be able to fit your spotting scope comfortably.

Sights

Having a quality sight, along with proper shot placement, will help you to make a more accurate shot and therefore a more ethical shot. Make sure your sight can adjust to all the distances you anticipate hunting. When you’re hunting from an elevated blind, remember to account for the angle of the blind. You’ll want to set your sight at the angled distance rather than the distance you would use if you were standing on the ground. Use the chart below to determine the correct angle.

It Won’t Get in the Way

You don’t have to worry about your optics taking up a lot of space in the blind. As mentioned earlier, Stump blinds have ample space for more than one hunter and there’s plenty of room for all of your equipment. You should be able to store your equipment and still have plenty of room to move between the multiple windows that surround the Stump blinds without hassle. Our Storage Shelf attaches to any of our Stump blinds’ walls. It’s lined with rubber padding so you don’t have to worry about anything rattling around and making noise. It’s a perfect place to store your binoculars and other small hunting gear and personal belongings.

Having a pair of binoculars on hand during your hunting trip, in your Stump blind, could make a big difference in the success of the trip. If you have binoculars you’ll be able to see the deer before it makes its way to your blind and you’ll be able to tell whether it’s one you want to harvest so you can get ready to aim or pass and wait for the next one. A good sight, paired with proper shot placement, will help you harvest the deer ethically and will get you one step closer to having venison on your dinner table.
