Spring is prime turkey hunting season. It’s a great way to keep your hunting muscles engaged while you wait for the next deer season and it’s another opportunity to put wild game on the table and in your freezer. You can use our Feedbank Feeders to attract both turkey and deer to your property to take advantage of hunting turkey season and keep the deer engaged in your property during the off season. Check out the tips, below, for how you can use our feeders to kill two birds with one stone.

Ground Feeders

Our Feedbank Timber ground feeders are perfect for feeding the flock. Each feeder has four ports that are flat on the ground so the birds will be able to get to the feed easily. You can get the feeders in either 250 pounds or 500 pounds. The more seeds the feeder can hold, the longer you can go between fills, which does wonders for your stealthiness during the season.

Gravity Feeders

Our Feedbank Gravity deer feeders are perfect for feeding the deer herd. All but one of the options have four ports. The ports are at a deer’s eye level, so they can easily eat from the port that’s directly in front of their face. The sizes range from 40 pounds to 600 pounds. Like the ground feeders, the more feed it can hold, the longer you can go between filling it. The feeders are mounted on a 4x4 or 6x6 post. To prevent raccoons and other invasive animals from climbing the post and trying to eat the food from the ports, use our Feeder Sleeve. The sleeve is made from the same slick polyethylene material that our blinds are made out of. The slick material will discourage pests from climbing because they won’t be able to gain footing. The protective coating will wick moisture, just like they do on the blinds, meaning it will dry quickly and help protect the wood post from rot if it has prolonged exposure to rain.

You can easily move each of the feeder types around the property as the seasons change. You can place the feeders next to a dusty field and solid trees with strong branches during the spring while you’re hunting turkeys then move them next to a water source and bedding areas in the summer to prep for deer season.

Since it’s not the active season for deer, spring and summer are the perfect seasons to place new types of food in your feeder and keep monitoring your cameras. They’ll have time to get used to the new food, digestively, and they’ll develop a routine around your property while you’re not actively hunting. Then, by the time fall comes around, they’ll be visiting your property frequently and will have already gotten used to your Stump blind.

The deer prep will serve double duty with the active turkey season. You can be attracting turkeys for an active hunt while you’re attracting deer to establish their patterns. Hunt the turkeys and scout the deer from the comfort of your Stump blind and make the most of two exciting hunting seasons for twice the experiences and twice the wild game.
