The summer heat can dry out more than just lakes and rivers. Food sources are also affected by summer droughts. Our Feedbank Gravity Feeders give deer easy access to the food and nutrients they need to continue building their antlers and stay healthy during the brutal summer temperatures, even when their natural food sources might be drying out. Check out our tips, below, to learn more about how our feeders can keep the herd fed and thriving during the summer months.

The Lids are Sealed

Our Feedbank Gravity Deer Feeders come with a lid that locks and latches securely, ensuring that the feed inside the container stays fresh and protected from the harsh summer sun. The secure lid also helps prevent pesty critters like raccoons and squirrels from getting into the feed. Our Feeder Sleeves are made from the same polyethylene material as our blinds. It creates a slick surface that will make it harder for rodents to gain traction and crawl up the post. The polyethylene material is also watertight, so it will repel water just like our blinds. So, you can sit on your porch and enjoy the summer showers without having to worry about hauling your feeders inside.

Hefty Options

Our feeders can hold up to 600 pounds of feed if you get the Feedbank 600 model. This will allow you to fill the container up as summer begins and forget about it for weeks. The feeder ports are set at an optimal height of 42 inches, so the openings will be right in front of a deer’s face, allowing them to walk up and immediately begin eating from the feeder. The ports are adjustable so you can control how fast the ports refill. The port openings will automatically refill with feed when the valve senses the ports are empty. So, the deer will have constant, continuous and unlimited access to the feed. The feeders have multiple ports so multiple members of the deer herd can feed at the same time.

Protect the Antlers

During summer, the bucks are developing their summer velvet which is incredibly sensitive as it forms due to the many blood vessels flowing through it. So, they’ll be extra cautious of bumping their antlers against anything until later in the summer or early fall when the velvet starts to dry out and sluff off. Our single-post design gives the bucks room for their antlers so that they can feed comfortably without worrying about catching their antlers on the tripod posts on the ground.

Our feeders are perfect for these hot summer months. They will provide the deer herd with nutrition and stability as certain crops dry out in the summer heat. They’ll be able to rely on your property for consistent food, which will keep them coming back all summer. This routine will encourage them to come back to your property during the active hunting season throughout the fall. As always, check your state’s regulations to make sure supplemental feeding is legal in your area. If it is, set up Feedbank Gravity Feeders all around your property to keep the herd fed all summer and reap the benefits in the fall.
