Spring cleaning can apply to more than just your home. You can also take this time to clean out your Stump blinds. Spring into the next season by double-checking your Banks Outdoors products to clear them from deer hunting, transition to turkey hunting, and prep them for the next deer season. Check out our tips, below, for a spring maintenance checklist.

Take the Blind Down from the Platform and Move it for Turkey Season

If you hunted from your Stump blind on an elevated platform during deer season, take the blind down from your Steel Tower System and place it on the ground to turkey hunt. Since turkeys have a much smaller vital area than a deer, you don’t need to be as high up to aim at them. With turkeys, the closer you are to them, the better. Shorter distances will allow for cleaner, more efficient shots. You can move your blinds to the ground quickly and efficiently because Banks Outdoors blinds are easy to assemble and disassemble. You can even move the blind to an entirely different part of the property for turkeys by using the steel hitch to hook it up to your car or ATV and the skis on the bottom of the blind to glide it across the ground. Scout out new places and move your blind for turkey season before the season opens next month on April 15.

Take Your Bow and Arrows in for a Tune-Up

Now is a great time to take your gear to your local shop and have it tuned. The archery techs will be able to check your gear for vane, fletching, arrow tip, and bowstring damage. Getting your gear repaired right after the season ends is a great way to make sure you’re going into your off-season practice sessions with fresh gear. If you’re continuing on with turkey season, you’ll have proper gear for that as well. Letting your gear sit in your blind all spring and summer will only result in an unpleasant surprise in the fall when you go to use your gear on opening day and find everything is warped. Take care of everything now while you have plenty of time and can even take the time to get used to a new bow if you decide to upgrade your gear this year.

Spring Clean Your Blind: Literally

You can also take this time to do a true spring cleaning of your blind and physically vacuum, sweep and wipe down the inside of your blind. If you conducted all day sits or typically ate meals or snacks on your hunts, you’ll want to clean to make sure you didn’t leave any crumbs or anything that would attract pests in your absence or identify your blind as a human spot for the deer. You can also wipe down the outside of your blind with a scent-free cleaning product and water. Our blinds dry quickly and are weather resistant. If it can withstand rain and snow, it can withstand cleaning with soap and water. Use our quick-drying Blind Towel, wet or dry, to wash the blind.

As we enter the spring off season, check on your blind and make sure you haven’t left any food or gear inside the blind. Give it a thorough cleaning to make sure you’re ready for the spring turkey season or some off season practice sessions.
